Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features live text for the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , following last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, they both lost their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the number of infractions each committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.

However it was positive to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the game 21-17.

Denver have the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They executed the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers instead they might position two LBs in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be this season's dark horses. They finished last season strongly and excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while new running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver are a team that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in positive down and distances.

This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who came the NFL as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, and he is so athletic.

His assets are his movement, being able to throw on the run, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw precision throws over the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.

When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to be in play extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the area vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for the coach to have a young quarterback that is similar to moldable clay. He can truly build something up how he wants to build it. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

The head coach has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix helps make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you during some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, which is a good place to hold their division. All they need is to continue this path.

They excel at leaning into their forte, which is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win a game.

Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.

It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
