The President Welcomes Families of Attacked Guard Members to White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Attendees assembled over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, informed the press. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”

Service details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Government Revisions

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general informed the program that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” the governor addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
