The Red Bull team has announced significant changes for the 2026 Formula 1 season, elevating French driver Isack Hadjar to its senior team and handing British teenager Arvid Lindblad his maiden F1 drive.

Lindblad, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, is set to become team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson at the sister squad VCARB.

These changes results in Japan's Yuki Tsunoda being without a drive post a half-decade in F1.

A Star in the Making

The youngster was identified as a prodigy by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old.

Regarding the team's young driver programme, a senior Red Bull figure previously said that Lindblad "appears very talented", commending his "natural quickness".

Red Bull has been working for some time to prepare Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, including runs in F1 practice sessions at the British and Mexican races.

Lindblad stated it was a "dream come true", commenting: "Next season represents a massive test, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm ready to collaborate with the team and rise to it. I can't wait to get started."

He has won a couple of victories in F2 so far this season and is P6 in the championship heading into the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Hadjar's Big Break

The Frenchman's debut season started in difficult fashion when he crashed during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. However, from that point, he has been one of the most impressive newcomers this season.

His performances included an remarkable podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the drivers' standings.

A senior team figure commented: "Isack has displayed impressive growth and proved to be a fast adapter. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can succeed alongside Max."

The promoted driver called it "a fantastic step" and said he felt "prepared".

Lawson Retains His Seat

For the seat at the junior team, Red Bull have opted for Lawson over Tsunoda.

Lawson started 2025 with the main team but was demoted early in the year. He has found his form at Racing Bulls with notable results, convincing Red Bull he deserves another season.

The Japanese driver, in contrast, loses his place after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has scored a minor percentage of the team's points total.

The driver market moves confirm that there remains no spot on the Red Bull programme for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 next season.
