Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
